Last Gymnastics Meet 2008
Christen's last gymnastics meet for 2008 went very well. It was just amazing to see how much she had improved since the first meet. She definitely wasn't perfect on her routines but the skill level of the individual components had really increased. So all in all she looked very good to me. Of course this was still just a "skills" meet for Christen, although her last, and it was all a lot of fun without any pressure to take first place in any exercise.
You will also see Andrew perform some gymnastics in the video. You can tell he really wasn't enjoying himself and that his heart just was not in it. He had been taking lessons for the boys at the Gymnastics Center in Palestine for about six months I guess and he said he liked it. When Coach Helen told us that she was taking her boy gymnasts to the last meet just for "skills" competition and that Andrew was invited if he wanted to perform, we asked Andrew if that sounded like something he wanted to do he said "yes". At least at first, but then he backed down a few days later and finally when it was getting close to the day of the meet he told us he did want to perform. I think it was mostly because one of his best friends was going to be there. Anyway, after seeing Andrew's performance it was obvious that gymnastics just wasn't going to be his cup-of-tea. We put him in Karate in the Fall and he has really enjoyed it ever since.
