First Girls Gymnastics Meet 2008
We went to Christen's first girls gymnastics meet this past Saturday (March 29, 2008) and Christen had a blast. The meet took place in Dallas, Tx and started at 7 AM!. Why do they do that to little girls? How can a 5 1/2 year old girl be expected to compete in gymnastics that early in the morning? Yes, because Christen is only 5 1/2, she can't actually compete in the full gymnastics event and can only do the "skills" routine, but why force her to do it at 7 o'clock in the morning. That meant getting up at least an hour and half before that in order to eat, get her hair done, get into her competition gymnastics leotard, and make it to the gymnasium with enough time to do some warm ups and a little extra practice. A little bit grueling if you ask me. But, like I said Christen had a blast, despite the fact that she fell off the balance beam during warmups and scraped and bruised the back of her upper leg.
Below is a video of Christen's meet, highlighting Christen's events of course. I know I'm a proud father, but I can't help thinking that Christen just might be a great women's gymnastics star from the US competing in the 2016 Olympics. Go Christen!
